FAITH-INTEGRATED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELING SERVICES

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”  Romans 15:13

At Renew Counseling Center, we believe that all people are created by God with physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs and that life is a journey that often has many challenging paths.  Sometime life’s obstacles can bring loss of joy and hope, brokenness and pain.  Yet, God desires that we not just survive these challenges or remain in our brokenness and pain but be restored, healed and renewed to enjoy the life for which we have been created.  Through the integration of proven psychological models of therapy with Biblical principles in a safe, confidential and compassionate environment, hearts are restored and hope is renewed.  The therapeutic relationship offers clients an opportunity to evaluate their journey, establish meaningful goals, and learn to deal more effectively with their life issues.  Note:  This integrated approach is an option clients may choose and is not a requirement for obtaining services.

Renew can assist you with challenges in the following areas:

Please note that Renew Counseling Center’s physcial office location in Glendale, Arizona, closed to in-person sessions effective November 20, 2023. Annette Stanley continues to see clients remotely  through HIPAA compliant video sessions or telephone.

Finding a qualified clinicians to overcome life’s challenges can be daunting. There are multiple approaches to achieving client goals and various psychological models to sort through when choosing a trusted partner to help honor your sacred story.  Finding the right “fit” is essential for clients to grow. The average person does not know which approaches will be the best to resolve the issues being experienced. Renew Counseling Center wants to make this process easy for you. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation where one of our counselors will talk directly to you about the concerns you have and how those might be approached in counseling. I offer both traditional and intensive therapy models using HIPAA compliant video or telephone sessions and utilize  proven psychological models of therapy that help you heal in a safe, confidential and compassionate environment. Renew’s mission is for hearts to be restored and hope renewed no matter your spiritual beliefs or faith background.

For clients who desire a faith-integrated experience, it can be difficult to find a counselor who is qualified to integrate both the principles of psychology and Biblical truth.  Having support through a grace-focused recovery lens aids in spiritual healing for those feeling broken, crushed in spirit, have troubled relationships, or lack hope due to mental illness. I want to be a safe place for you to explore your questions about faith and Christianity. Believing that you were formed by our creator God with physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs,  our staff would be honored to journey with you to regain spiritual hope and healing in addition to navigating life’s challenges.

As the owner and clinical supervisor of Renew Counseling Center, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Arizona. I graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University with a Master’s Degree in Counseling and an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. I completed my masters-level internship with Abundant Life Counseling Ministries of Abundant Life Baptist Church in Lees Summit, Missouri, where I worked with individuals, couples, families, and groups addressing many life issues and relational concerns. Following graduation, I started Thrive Counseling & Consulting located in Overland Park, Kansas, where I continued to serve the community and refine my counseling skills under doctoral level supervision. I worked primarily with couples, families, and individuals (including adolescents) while also consulting with local churches about how best to address life issues and relational concerns within the Christian community. In 2014, I closed the practice when my family relocated to Arizona. I then served as a Licensed Associate Counselor with Northwest Christian Counseling where I continued counseling couples, families, and individuals. Renew Counseling Center opened at the end of 2017 and has been serving clients in Arizona since that time adding additional counselors to support client needs. In September 2022, a family member within my family experienced a health crisis and led to a difficult decision to relocate to another state necessitating the recent closure of our office in Glendale (November 2023). I continue to serve clients within the state of Arizona through secure remote options for therapy.  The experience of the recent pandemic created new opportunities to serve clients effectively, and while my preference is for in-office sessions, the only option for appointments currently is through video or phone.

Beyond graduate school, most counselors complete further specialty training, and I am no exception. I have trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, completed levels I-III of the Gottman Therapy Model for couples and PREPARE/ENRICH. I have obtained a certificate in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and the Murray Method (which uses the “trauma egg”) to enhance my work with trauma survivors. Additionally, I have received training in Attachment Theory, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (effective with mood and personality disorders), and Sand Tray therapy (this modality is not currently available due to remote services).  Most recently, Annette has become equipped to apply Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into treatment planning. I am a lifelong learner and continue to seek pathways to enhance my work. I believe that we must address mental health issue holistically and consider the interaction between mind, body, and soul for the best outcomes in the practice of counseling.
